The simple difference is lab grown diamonds have been made in a laboratory using CVD and HPHT technology over the course of days and weeks. In comparison natural mined diamonds take thousands of years to produce in the earths mantle. Due to the difference in the two processes this means that lab grown diamonds are significantly cheaper than a natural mined diamond.
